Exhausted... and bloated!

Today I had Donnie take a picture of me so that we can compare my belly as it grows... Well... I am SO BLOATED.. This picture isn't "accurate" but it as close to accurate as we're going to get at this point.

I am feeling good so far. Bloated and that can be a little uncomfortable but I am hungry and not too nauseous yet. I only get nauseous if I don't eat often enough. Otherwise I feel pretty good. I am exhausted, but this is all expected and welcome at this point! Any symptoms I have is a sign that baby is doing well in there!

Hormones are getting to me... already!

This song I found on youtube made me cry this morning. I am SO BLESSED and SO HAPPY for this miracle God gave us! I am crying tears of joy but my gosh I can't stop!!!

They placed you in my arms tonight; I can hardly believe that you are mine. Tiny fingers, tiny toes, a tiny life that's gonna grow, I've waited so many years for this day--I want to make it stay. I want to remember this, I want to remember this, every smile, every kiss, every moment's like a promise, and I want to remember this. We brought our bundle home tonight, half scared to death but on cloud nine. And as I rocked you in the dark I could feel your tiny heart; I said a prayer as I kissed your sweet face, "Lord, keep him safe." Every season, every age will be beautiful in its own way, from preschool through to prom, even your wedding day. And we'll celebrate and walk with you, each step that your life brings, but there's something that's so sweet about beginnings… I want to remember this, I want to remember this, every smile, every kiss, every moment's like a promise. I want to remember this, I want to remember this, every tear, every touch, I just can't believe I love you this much, and I want to remember, I want to remember, I want to remember this.

And this one is for the hubby! He is going to be the best daddy ever. He showed me that the other night when we were babysitting Soren. He LOVES kids and he is so excited to be a daddy.

June 29, 2012

Today is the day... the day that I found out that I am EXPECTING!!! Before I tell you how I found out, I want to backtrack a little.

As many of you may know, our anniversary is June 11. We were married just over two years ago. What many people do NOT know is... I have PCOS which is Poly cystic ovarian syndrome which causes some really weird menstrual cycle problems. I do not ovulate on a normal cycle and I often get my period extremely late. So for the past two years, Donnie and I have been working with my doctors to come up with a way to help us conceive. We were told we probably wouldn't have much trouble as long as we used a medication called clomid. We underwent SIX different cycles with clomid help back in the spring of 2011 with no success. We went through HORRIBLE tests to try and have a baby. We kept this to ourselves because we didn't want to be asked all the time what was going on and when we were going to have a baby. We just tried to ignore the random "when will you become parents" questions because for most of the last two years, those questions have been really painful to answer.

About 6 months ago, Donnie and I stopped trying to get pregnant. We had a few other medical problems come up and we also were both in transition at our jobs so we just held off for a bit to figure out those other things. We were using birth control for about 4 months. I stopped birth control in May.

We planned on going back to my fertility clinic in a few months, little did we know it was going to happen so quick!

Over the last few weeks I have been experiencing symptoms that my doctors thought was my gallbladder. I have been going through tests and everything for that. Not really thinking about much else other than, "Am I going to need my gallbladder removed?!"

Then today, I realized I had not had my normal period symptoms even though I was due for my period today... so I said, "let me take a test, I bet it will be negative but whatever!" Keep in mind, I have been taking pregnancy tests almost every month for the last two years, I am so used to seeing negatives by now. I went and took that test and walked away. 10 minutes later I remembered I had a pregnancy test sitting on the bathroom sink. I went to go check it... sure enough there were two lines! I didn't believe it. I thought for sure I must have picked up an ovulation predictor test instead of a pregnancy test. But nope, I checked the wrapper and it was a pregnancy test! I quickly ran out of the bathroom, called Donnie at the station.

His reaction was awesome! It ended with him saying, "I am nervous, but I will get over that! That's awesome babe!"

After I called him I decided to drink two bottles of water and take another test, this time a digital test. Again, I was SURE it was going to be negative. I thought for sure it had to be a mistake. But nope, ANOTHER POSITIVE. Of course the digital said pregnant and that is when it hit me, I AM PREGNANT, I AM GOING TO BE A MOMMY!!

My emotions today have gone all over, crying tears of joy, laughing, smiling, being nervous, but mostly excited. Even though we have desperately wanted this baby for two years now, it is still such a shock because we weren't even trying and it wasn't even on my radar that I might get pregnant, especially since I thought I would need medicine to help me conceive.

I am scared to lose the baby but I have faith in God and in my body's ability to do what it needs to do. I think I am only 4 weeks along today with a due date of March 8, 2013. The doctor will confirm that with a dating ultrasound. Only time will tell that the baby is healthy with a strong heartbeat.
